Strategy Cards Service Description

Strategy Cards is a SaaS platform for collaborative strategy formulation, integrating structured templates, AI insights, and real-time planning to support continuous strategic development.

What does the software do?

Executive teams and PMOs can build “workbooks” with freeform and more formal “worksheets” to create well considered strategic options which harness the ideas, energy and input of their people.

Where AI is activated, AI team members will interact, advise and offer insights.

The resulting analysis and strategic choices can be presented dynamically and directly in “playbooks”, and the chosen objectives and initiatives can be extracted to inform the deployment and execution phases.

Strategy Cards provides a simple and understandable framework for users to develop their thinking clearly and consistently. This is an adaptation of Colonel John Boyd’s well-known OODA loop with the addition of a Framing step (F).

Why should you use Strategy Cards?

Strategy is typically carried out annually, often with the help of facilitating consultants. A variety of analysis tools are deployed to understand the current and target state of the organization, prioritise opportunities and challenges, understand risks and assumptions and determine objectives for the following year.

Once the direction is set, the organisation deploys the strategy – detailing the plans and aligning the teams behind it, then moves into execution and tracking, the province of Strategic Execution Management (SEM) and Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM) disciplines. The creation work then often remains in static documentation formats and is rarely revisited until the following year’s cycle.

Strategy Cards enables this work to become a living document which can be returned to repeatedly and can be connected to the strategy such that risks, assumptions and analyses can be continually revised and challenged and connected in a more meaningful real time way to the deployment and execution.

Benefit expected from using Strategy Cards:

Strategy Cards gives organizations the following capabilities:

  1. Ability to leverage well known tools and techniques to capture and refine strategic thoughts and ideas and communicate them to the wider organization.
  2. Ability to align the organization behind a standard process for strategy formulation.
  3. Ability to harness AI insights (when AI is activated) to help form a coherent strategy, and to spot opportunities and gaps.
  4. Ability to revisit the strategy any time, and to develop and refine it throughout the year. Strategy Cards keeps you connected to the risks, assumptions, and themes that shape your choices, making your strategy more robust, more agile, and better understood.

And aims to drive the following benefits:

  1. Improved quality of strategic work and decision making, driving better strategic outcomes for the business.
  2. Democratized strategy. Helping to coach and involve the organisation in strategic thinking, enhancing ownership and engagement in the strategy with commensurate cultural benefits to the organisation.
  3. Digitalized end to end strategy cycle, enabling insights and data connections to be made from the execution cycle back to first principles.
  4. Lean strategic process with much reduced administrative waste and time involved in strategy creation when compared against that to produce more traditional static documentation.
